Vinted Shoppers Share Anger Over Size Updates
Shoppers are voicing their frustration following a change that caused products showing incorrect sizing.
The popular resale platform has altered its size classifications for female and kids' apparel without notifying all users about the change.
Social Media Backlash
Numerous buyers and vendors have taken to social media stating that platform listings now display a different size category than originally posted as a result of the reclassification.
Vinted explained the new system was more in line with comparable marketplaces.
The platform has recommended to examine their items and adjust the sizing manually when needed, which has left users frustrated.
Sizing System Updates
Before the change, the measurements included a single numeric size and a letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features a letter and a range for example S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the measurements have been reclassified - such as a large size was formerly size 12 but is now a UK 16-18.
User Stories
A fashion influencer, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
A different member, from Glasgow, stated items she posted on Vinted with size 14 labels were displaying on the service as measurements 20-22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they will likely be quite upset," she said.
Required Changes
Charlotte Lunn, located in England, said she had been left angered because the modification necessitated personal updates the measurements for "each individual item".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, since I have chronic health issues and selling on Vinted has been paramount following partial earnings loss," she explained.
Service Background
The platform boasts over 100 million members, with 18 million British users.
It has proved a popular alternative to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time that an unexpected update on the platform has faced criticism: earlier, the service retracted a modification concerning shipment methods following member complaints.
